Everyone loves getting a bit of good fortune, don’t they? 

At least that’s what people had been hoping for when the clock strikes midnight on the last day of 2023. 

Kicking off the year 2024, Fish for Fortune (or FFF for short) is a project that features a whimsical fortune fish charm. This charming little companion carries five different fortune for the bearer: Abundance, Good Luck, Happiness, Longevity, and Prosperity. 

Designed with fish characteristics in mind, the shape of the charm is inspired from the animal’s movement; thus separating the fish charm into three parts (the head, the body, and the tail) and connect them with flexible hooks in order to achieve the movement of fish swimming in the vast ocean. 

Aside from the fish charm being the highlight, it’s the fortune that one can’t skip. Inspired by the Japanese omikuji (a fortune paper slip that is typically sold in temples in Japan), the fortune is written on a piece of paper and then tied to secure the box. The adorable charm is packaged in a tin box that is inspired by sardine cans, incorporating mock fish hook and fishnet for good measure.

A symbol of good fortune for the new year, the fish charms also make a stylish accessory that can be hung anywhere as an amulet.
